Furnace Chimneys

Your furnace chimney is very important. It is the venting system for the exhaust gasses produced from the combustion of natural gas or oil. Although most new furnaces and boilers burn very clean the exhaust gasses contain carbon monoxide, acids, and moisture that can be harmful to masonry chimneys. Metal chimney liners are used to protect masonry chimneys and to make the heating appliance vent better. The better the appliance vents the more efficiently it works, An appliance that is vented properly will cost less to operate and will last longer. And of course you will feel more comfortable knowing that your chimney is venting properly and none of the exhaust gasses are spilling back into your house. Superior Chimney installs chimney liners using the best materials and methods available for your protection.

Chimney Liners

Chimney liners are an important part of your homes heating system. They efficiently carry the exhaust gasses produced by your heating appliance out of your home. If installed improperly their efficiency is greatly reduced. We have seen aluminum flex liners wound in a chimney like a snake making the exhaust path twice as long as it should be. We have also seen poor grades of stainless steel used that have deteriorated from the acids produced from oil combustion. In fact, we have seen so many poor installations of chimney liners that we find it hard to believe sometimes. Chimney liners are easy to install the right way. Good materials, experienced installers with an understanding of masonry chimneys, and pride in workmanship are the key to successful installations. At Superior Chimney we take pride in knowing that when we install chimney liners they are done correctly and your heating appliance will vent safely and efficiently.

Chimney Facts

This photo shows an example of a new high efficiency oil furnace venting through an older masonry chimney. Exaust temperature is too low to adequately heat flue and as a result condensation forms. Condensation consists of water and acid which can damage the chimney very rapidly. This chimney needs a stainless steel liner.
